Printed electronics for textile applications
Dr Margreet de Kok, Senior scientist, Holst Centre
11:00 AM
11:30 AM
Printed electronics for textile applicationsHolst Centre is developing flexible and stretchable electronics by cost effective printing technologies which are ultimately suitable for textile applications. The integration of electronics can be attained by various methods like lamination of electronics, embroidery or direct printing. The challenges for textile applications like stretchable and very thin form factor to achieve unobtrusive integration, the cost and reliability including washability is addressed in this talk. Applications that become possible with printed electronics in textile products will be explained and realized product examples will be shown.

Revolutionizing Digital Textile Printing: Introducing One Ink for all Fabrics
Guy Evron, Marketing director, Bordeaux Digital PrintInk.
11:30 AM
12:00 PM
Revolutionizing Digital Textile Printing: Introducing One Ink for all Fabrics Digital textile printing is a market that has been growing significantly over the past years. It is gradually taking the place of traditional textile printing due to the market shift towards shorter print runs. Current digital textile printing methods rely on many different inks, each dedicated to one specific type of fabric, a fact which heavily limits the flexibility of producers to provide solutions for multiple applications. The future of digital textile printing lays in the new water based pigment ink, recently developed by Velvet Jet. This ink allows printing on any type of fabric, including cotton, synthetic as well as on blended fabrics. It even allows printing on leather and décor. The simple printing process of the new pigment ink provides vivid colors with outstanding chemical ink features and maintains the natural feel of the fabrics.

TECH TIME- WorkflowBehind every digital print device sits one or more pieces of software without which it would be impossible to take input data, manipulate it and turn it into a printed job. As machines get faster and more sophisticated in their options, so the digital front end becomes more crucial in its capabilities and speed. An efficient workflow can now incorporate many facets, bringing automation to time-consuming tasks and ensuring seamless integration across processes and management. A RIP can be augmented by many complimentary productivity options and, in this panel session, the discussion centres around the essential components that should be considered by every print service provider and display producer.

The colour that refused to print
Marco Olivotto, Owner, Marco Olivotto & C. snc

3:00 PM
The colour that refused to printDealing with unprintable colours is often a serious issue. In some cases, success is a compromise. The best possible compromise has its roots in the understanding of how the image data and final result relate to each other, in terms of colour space extension and rendering intents. Some case-studies can make the theory more understandable.

TECH TIME - Back shoring and what it means a changing product mix – from mass production to mass cusTextiles and ceramics are two of the most dominant market segments where ink-jet production is enabling greater localisation in manufacturing processes. Will digital print generate a shift away from China and the far east by enabling cleaner, more environmentally friendly methods that result in lower waste levels? How are manufacturers benefiting from on-demand opportunities, shorter lead times, faster turnaround from desktop to delivery, and reduced SKUs? Will mass customisation increase significantly the necessity for digital print? The session discusses market moves and how technology shifts are affecting manufacturing volumes and logistics across the world.
